About the work
Two Lines is built through an accumulation of repeated, hand-drawn marks.
Using coloured pencil on cotton paper, Laura Waldusky constructs the surface line by line. Each mark is simple, but through repetition it builds into a complex, controlled field of movement.
The title refers to her starting point. Two lines form the basis of the composition, from which the entire work develops, expanding outward through a continuous process of drawing.
The composition is anchored by two crossing bands, where the lines tighten and shift direction, creating a sense of tension and flow at the same time. The eye follows these paths, looping and folding back in on itself.
There’s a strong sense of structure, but nothing mechanical. Small variations in pressure, spacing and colour keep the surface active, holding the presence of the hand within a highly disciplined system.
The work balances control and release, where precision gives way to something more fluid and optical.
It sits between drawing and process, where repetition becomes a way of building rhythm, movement and focus over time.
