My approach

Framing designed from the artwork outwards

Every project begins with the artwork. Rather than being limited to a catalogue of standard mouldings, I design and manufacture my own frame profiles, allowing every detail to be tailored with precision, from proportion and depth to timber, finish and glazing.

With more than 20 years’ experience, I frame paintings, works on paper, photography, textiles and unusual pieces for artists, collectors, galleries and interior designers. The result is a frame that feels integral to the work, rather than simply added around it.

Made differently

Designed, not selected

I’m not limited to off-the-shelf mouldings. Each profile can be tailored to achieve the right width, depth, sightline and proportion for the artwork.

Natural materials

Carefully selected solid hardwoods and considered finishes bring warmth, character and individuality to every frame.

Protection without distraction

Conservation-grade mounting and specialist glazing protect the artwork while allowing it to be seen at its best.

The framing process

01 — Studio or home consultation

I start with the artwork, considering where it will live and what the frame needs to achieve.

02 — Design & sampling

I develop the design around the work, making profile or finish samples where useful.

03 — Profiling & construction

Each frame is individually profiled and constructed to suit the scale, depth and character of the artwork.

04 — Fitting & finishing

The artwork is housed using conservation-grade materials and reversible fitting methods wherever possible, protecting the work while allowing it to be safely removed in the future. Every frame is finished, checked and fitted by hand, with close attention to the artwork, glazing, backing and fixings.

05 — Delivery, shipping & installation

Local delivery, specialist art transport and worldwide shipping are available, with professional packing and artwork protection throughout. For specialist installation, I work with The Picture Hanger, a trusted relationship spanning nearly 20 years, covering everything from individual works to large-scale and complex installations.

Commissioned by Norman Cook, this bespoke case was designed to house his iconic TR-808 while keeping it fully accessible and playable.

Invisible join frame with bespoke three-stripe detail

A bespoke frame with an invisible join and three-stripe finish, echoing both the Hacienda road map image and the Adidas trainers the client always danced in.

Beyond the rectangle

Bespoke circular frames made to order, offering a specialist solution that few framers are set up to produce.

Made to look like a stamp

A custom-milled frame created for works by The Postman, with the profile cut to echo the perforated edge of a postage stamp and reference their images of the Queen.
