About the work
Seed Count reflects Christina Fedyk’s ongoing interest in gardening, repetition and the structures found within natural growth.
Working with oil-based ink on paper, Fedyk builds the image through repeated impressions. The dark rounded forms are similar but never identical, with subtle variations in scale, pressure and shape giving the composition its rhythm.
Arranged loosely into rows, the forms suggest seeds, planting, counting and cultivation. The grid introduces order, while the irregularity of each individual mark prevents the work from becoming rigid or mechanical.
Seed Count sits between repetition and variation. What initially appears systematic becomes distinctly organic, reflecting the way natural forms multiply and develop without ever being precisely the same.
