About the work

Citadel reflects Christina Fedyk’s interest in structure, repetition and the traces left through the process of making.

Built through overlapping blocks and fragmented forms, the composition has the sense of an imagined architecture. Pale greys and chalky whites are interrupted by areas of deep blue and black, creating moments of weight and intensity within the otherwise restrained surface.

The monoprint retains the physical qualities of the printing process. Scratches, uneven edges, shifts in tone and partially obscured marks remain visible, allowing each layer to register against those beneath it.

There is a balance between solidity and instability. Forms appear stacked, enclosed and connected, yet the composition never quite resolves into a fixed place. Citadel sits somewhere between architecture, landscape and abstraction, suggesting something constructed and continually reconfigured.
